Early Orthodontic Treatment

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends having a screening by an orthodontist at or before 7 years of age.

Because the jaws are more pliable at a younger age, Interceptive Orthodontic Treatment can help develop the jaws of growing patients.  These treatments can be drastic and even prevent possible jaw surgery that would have been otherwise necessary.

Treatments include:

  • Widening the jaws with a Rapid Palatal Expander in order to fit all of the developing permanent teeth, preventing extraction treatment
  • Correcting anterior and posterior crossbites.
  • Retracting “buck” teeth to prevent trauma/fracture of the front teeth.

Growth Modification- appliances and treatments aimed toward influencing the jaws in both Anterior-Posterior and Transverse dimensions to grow toward the most ideal position.
